Indeed. But upon reflection I don’t think that would be helpful or fair. It’s a tough spot to be in. I think on the one hand Talia is convinced that this is the only way to access her dream, but on the other hand she hates the work environment and the stress. So maybe the solution is to find a dream that pairs her skills and abilities with her passions without requiring her to live in this expensive place and work in this industry. Sometimes we discover that our dream job isn’t what we really want or need. Maybe she needs a part-time gig in a cheaper city with great public transport and a low cost of living. Might I suggest bartending in Montreal? And using all your crazy tips to fund your own business? There are lots of ways to get ahead. She felt stuck where she was and stood up for her right to be happy and stress-free, and that is why I’m proud. Is it Yelp’s fault? Maybe. Maybe not. But I’ve wanted to tell off my boss 1000 times and I’m a little jealous (and proud) that Talia chose to go down in a blaze of glory.
